I was blessed to be invited to teach yoga at a retreat recently.
The Natural Nourishment Retreat was held at Palmdale, on the Central Coast, it was run by Raw Living Academy and as such was focused on demonstrating the fine art of raw cuisine. I’ve had many ‘pinch yourself it’s not a dream’ moments this year but this was a goodie – a whole weekend of the BEST food on the planet!
Some of the culinary highlights for me were; the green falafel balls, rose granola with coconut yoghurt, pizza bases, Jeevi’s famous pad thai, and a decadent mango cheesecake. It truly is amazing what you can do with cashews and coconut.
My dear friend Hannah Ubl, The Raw Model, is one half of this creative and whole hearted team. Jeevi ‘Raw’ Ramtel, The Laughing Chef, is the other (he gets his title from his unique offering of uncooking classes and laughing yoga).
I so enjoyed spending a whole weekend with the incredible guests that came along, it’s really special to be able to connect in such a relaxed and inspiring environment. Truly tis’ the stuff of life to share stories and fine food with like minded people.
The property, Awaba, was stunning. Set atop a hill in the distinctly Australian surrounds the only passing traffic was resident wallaby Lucy and some feathered friends. On mornings while Han prepared green smoothies for breakfast I collected herbs from the veggie patch, it’s the simple things that make my heart swell – like shopping in your own backyard.
One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.
I thought, loved, slept SO well.
